Public Demonstrations

Does the Capital Area Budokai give public demonstrations?

Per our mission statement, the arts of the Capital Area Budokai regularly provide demonstrations to the public. If you would like us to demonstrate at your event, please contact us, and we can see if any of our members are available.

How much do you charge for a demonstration?

As a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the spread of Japanese martial traditions, the Budokai does not charge for demonstrations. Donations are always appreciated, however.

How long is a typical demonstration?

A typical demonstration of a single art usually takes 30-45 minutes, but can vary depending on the art and the type of demonstration.

What is required for a demonstration?

This depends on the art. Most of our arts only need a floor or stage, with room to swing our weapons. There also needs to be a safe distance between those performing and any spectators.

Do your demonstrations include audience involvement?

While audience participation is not typical for most of our arts, there are some that, with proper waivers and releases, can allow for a limited group to experience our arts at a very superficial level. Please reach out and contact us for more information.
